Chartres Labyrinth
The Chartres Labyrinth in Labyrinthia is a Historical Activity and Challenge
Set out for the long walk through the Chartres labyrinth. In this way, you can perceive the pilgrim’s procession of supplication in the medieval type labyrinth.
Facts:
The Chartres labyrinth has an area of about 175 m².
The total path length is about 430 metres to the centre and 430 metres out again.
The aim is to walk all the way to the centre of the labyrinth and the same way back out again.
The labyrinth is made in black setts and reddish stone dust.
The labyrinth pattern is named after the pavement labyrinth in the floor in the cathedral in Chartres in France. The city is situated southwest of Paris.
This pattern is – as well as the stone-lined Trojaborg pattern – a labyrinth pattern on which a number of labyrinths elsewhere in the world are based. The pattern is harmonious and beautiful to look at.
